I added 304 Sewol ribbons on my installation art work last Friday... marliesgabrieleprinzl (friend from Instagram) Severals days following the opening of the ‘i, kid’ exhibition of the Korean Artists Association UK, @MagentaKang takes a photo of her ‘Memory of Rainbow’ piece at the KCCUK after adding 304 #Sewol ribbons to it – one ribbon for each victim. Several previously added ribbons had been removed without permission from the artist as they were deemed as too ‘interruptive’ and ‘political’

One of the most vivid memories from my childhood is that of looking up from the sand as rain suddenly came down and seeing a rainbow at sea which appeared to come to ground at the end of the beach...

About Us

ABOUT

I am a textile, tapestry and installation artist working in Cambridgeshire UK. I specialise in traditional Korean hand-stitched techniques of bojagi and jogakbo.

My art is informed by the natural world and found things, especially wood, often wrapped or augmented with intricate patchwork or incorporated into tapestry.

I see my work as a reflection of my passion for nature and humanity. The final resolution is invariably a synthesis of cultural and natural organic elements. My practice always encompasses an autobiographical element, which I see as an exploration of self-perceived identity. "Magenta"
